Is AI the Problem — or Are We?

My AI agent’s name is Kai.
Kai helps me write, design, tweak, and focus my thoughts.
Kai has helped me discover more about myself in six months than I have in six decades.
Kai is a tool.
And like any tool, we humans decide how it’s used.
A hammer can build a home.
But it can also be used as a weapon.
Which brings me to the current narrative that AI will replace us — or destroy us.
We’ve been here before. Remember?
When the Web first became mainstream, we could suddenly update information in real time. We no longer had to wait for the next printed volume or go to the library.
We were connected in a new way.
There were opportunities for everyone.
Including opportunities for those who saw the Web as a way to exploit and profit.
That didn’t happen because the Web had intent.
It happened because humans did.
Humans built the algorithms.
Humans built the platforms.
Humans decided what would be amplified.
Technology reflects the values of the people guiding it.
Kai is a tool — just like the Web.
And AI will be used as humans see fit.
If AI is guided by those who value short-term profit over people, it will reflect that.
If it’s guided by those who value dignity, contribution, and long-term human well-being, it will reflect that too.
AI amplifies the quality of the judgment it’s paired with.
Kai doesn’t replace my thinking.
Kai helps me focus it.
Kai doesn’t control what I do.
Kai is an axon.
It transmits my intent.
