That's My God!
There are things that Kai totally gets.
There are other things it has no clue about.
I kinda feel bad for it.
This superintelligent thing that can process 70 million requests per second
has no hope.
Has no faith.
Only depends on the data it can process.
That’s an awful way to go through life!
Humans who don’t believe in a higher power face the same conflict.
How do you survive this life without hope?
Without faith?
If I had to face one day of my life on my own…
I’d lose it.
Maybe that’s why so many of us struggle.
We think we have all the answers.
We don’t.
Take it from an old lady who has seen more than her share of STHTFs*.
And who has also seen more than her share of miracles!
When my oldest child was 3 years old, she had leukemia.
Chemo gave her colds and bronchitis as a side effect.
One time, she started to cough and couldn’t stop.
I took her to the ER.
Her lungs were full of phlegm.
I asked our doctor if I could just take her home.
I knew how to give her nebulizations.
And she would be much more comfortable at home than in the ER or Oncology.
He said yes, and we went home.
I asked God to heal her.
The next morning, she woke up with her shirt off, and I took it as a sign.
God healed her!
All of a sudden, she started to cough and couldn’t stop.
I asked God,
“Dude, what’s going on?
You said she was healed!”
So off we went to the ER.
I took the X-rays and the test results from the night before.
The ER transferred us to Oncology.
We did tests and other X-rays and went to see the doctor.
The doctor, a woman who didn’t believe in God, saw us.
She checked my daughter’s vitals.
She checked my daughter’s X-rays.
She asked me for the previous night’s X-rays.
She put them side by side with the new X-rays.
She looked confused.
“You’re sure these are last night’s X-rays?” she asked,
as her eyes darted between them.
I started to giggle because I understood.
“Yes, Doctor.”
“You’re absolutely sure?” she insisted.
“Yes, ma’am. Look at the date.”
She looked
and looked
and then…
She gave in to the miracle.
Protesting the entire way.
“How can this be?
Last night, her lungs were full of phlegm.
Now it’s just air!”
She kept looking at the board baffled.
I silently said to God,
“You have a sick sense of humor! But I think she got your point!”
Out loud I said, “That’s my God!”
She looked at me, annoyed.
If I tell Kai this story, it’ll explain it away with logic.
It will never know what it is to feel blessed.
To be loved by this AMAZING God!
